During our week long stay on the island of St. Kitts, we were able to explore the island and create some wonderful memories.  This island is so beautiful and there are even more restaurants to check out, but here are a few of our thoughts on the ones we were able to visit!

Shipwreck Beach Bar

Shipwreck was a short taxi ride from the Marriott property, where we stayed for the first half of our trip.  We wanted to go to Shipwreck for one thing – the Monkeys!!!  Now, the locals aren’t really the biggest fans of these Green Vervet monkeys.  They outnumber the amount of people on the island and they eat their fruit from their gardens, which would be really annoying to have to put up with on a daily basis.  However, we don’t have monkeys in Atlanta, so we were typical tourists and were very excited!  We arrived a little before sunset, which turns out is the best time to see the monkeys and mongoose.  We were standing around taking a ridiculous amount of photos of said monkeys and the owner happened to walk over right by us and was feeding them.  I don’t know if this is a regular thing….but I can now say that I get to check off feeding wild monkeys bananas in St. Kitts from my bucket list 😉  They are not afraid of people at all, especially when bananas are involved and you will see them walking around, perching on cars… it was really cool!

All that being said, Shipwreck is your quintessential beach bar – sandy floors, plastic beach chairs, you get the picture.  But it really was so much fun.  Grab yourself a bucket of Caribe and a water view and enjoy the sunset!

Reggae Beach Bar

Reggae Beach Bar is located on Cockleshell Beach.  For the second half of our trip, we stayed at the Park Hyatt and Cockleshell beach was a quick little walk just down from the hotel.  The bar has the best laid back vibe!  The food is nothing spectacular, however we ordered the chicken strips and they hit the spot!  It a great place to just grab a drink and enjoy being in the Caribbean!

Spice Mill

Spice Mill is also located on Cockleshell Beach and we had lunch here during our stay.  They had a pretty casual lunch menu and we enjoyed just sitting there and admiring the view!  Spice Mill is fairly well known for dinner, which seemed to be a little more on the nicer side, so keep it in mind if you are looking for a dinner spot!

**Side Note – While we were there, there weren’t any cruise ships in port, so the beach was pretty quiet.  There can be multiple ships docked at a time and apparently this beach and the restaurants can get very busy!  Also if you have kids, or are a big kid yourself – there was an inflatable obstacle course in the water that was very popular and looked like a lot of fun!

Salt Plage

Salt Plage is just a quick taxi ride away from the Park Hyatt and we had received a few recommendations for this place, so we had to check it out.  We arrived a little before sunset and were treated to a gorgeous view of the sun setting in the water!  The night we went was the full moon party, which seemed to be very popular with the locals.  A few things to note – On full moon party nights, the menu selection is smaller and there is no table service offered.  We were ok with it because we knew ahead of time, but we did see some families turn around and leave.  That being said, the food was delicious!  We ordered the jerk chicken wrap and an appetizer of plantain chips with a black bean dip.  Once the full moon rose in the sky, the band kicked off and the bonfire was lit.  It was such a fun way to spend our last evening on vacation!

Hopefully this gives you some tips and ideas as to what to include on your St. Kitts vacation!!  If you have any questions feel free to comment below!
